Zeb Demaiter MSW RSW
After over 15 years of experience as a clinical social worker, Zeb understands that when a young person is experiencing emotional or behavioural problems it reorganizes the way that a whole family functions. Zeb believes that when caregivers better understand their own emotions and the emotions of others they can experience positive changes in the lives of their children and families.
Zeb holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) is trained in Emotion Focused Therapy and experienced in supporting caregivers with emotion focused approaches to parenting including Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and Emotion Focused Skills Training (EFST) as well as behavioural approaches to parenting. Zeb will blend this approach with other training he has in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to customize and individualize an approach to care that matches the needs of his clients.
Aside from his private practice role Zeb is also employed full time at McMaster Children's Hospital supporting caregivers of children and youth who are experiencing mental health crisis both individually and in groups. Zeb is actively engaged in research endeavours through the Offord Center for Child Studies and McMaster University and is dedicated to research that is bringing families closer to the mental health care their loved ones are receiving.
Zeb is licensed as a social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (RSW) and is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
